As I walk and approach folks, I greet them with "good morning" or "hello" or a wave. Many respond or greet me first. Strangely some don't respond at all. Perhaps they don't hear me or have earplugs in or are so focused on something/someone or simply choose not to respond or wonder why I'm speaking to them. I have a habit of speaking to those I don't know and will keep on doing that. Sometimes a smile or an acknowledgement can make my day. Sometimes strangers become friends. It might even be part of that loving God and loving neighbor Jesus talked about.
I'll keep on enjoying the walk and the people and the benches and God's exquisite gift of creation and this precious gift of time.
