From there I headed to Alexandria to spend a night at Virginia Seminary (VTS) and visit my mother and stepfather. This morning's church was at VTS's new chapel. I had actually set out to walk to Immanuel on the Hill and noticed that people were going into the chapel, so I altered my path and loved the opportunity to worship in the chapel. The former chapel burned nearly to the ground and this space is a symbol of life rising from the ashes. On October 13 Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby will consecrate this new chapel and I'm sure it will be overflowing on that day! In less than 24 hours I was blessed with an individual's new ministry and that of a chapel--both having profound impact on what is yet to come. The precious gift of sabbatical time still unravels surprises.
Yesterday was a phenomenal celebration of Audrey Scanlan's new ministry as Bishop of Central PA. It was a grand time with many Trinity members present, a great day for the wider church, and a precious gift for the Diocese of Central PA to now have their new bishop. Being there was joy filled beyond understanding. From there I headed to Alexandria to spend a night at Virginia Seminary (VTS) and visit my mother and stepfather.
